Dr. Edgin is an Associate Professor and Director of the Cognition and Neural Systems Program in the Department of Psychology. She also has departmental and GIDP affiliations in Family Studies and Human Development, the Frances McClelland Institute, the School of Education, the Sonoran University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disability, and the Cognitive Science Program. Her area of expertise is sleep and memory development in typical and atypical development, including work with individuals with Down syndrome and autism. For her work coupling research and outreach with these populations, she received the Henry and Phyllis Koffler Prize for Community Outreach in 2018. Dr. Edgin currently runs the University of Arizona Public Policy Fellowship, focused on policy development and advocacy for persons with developmental disabilities. She will be discussing the importance of sleep in our day to day lives, and sleep science as an example of how we can all affect future policy for a better world.
